Terms of Service

The conditions governing access to Zene, accounts, media discovery, community features, and paid services.

1. Scope and contractual documents

Zene provides music and video discovery, podcasts, radio, playlists, listening history, entertainment information, and related account and subscription features through its website and applications. Features vary by platform, territory, account status, and version. A description of an optional feature does not mean that it is available in every release or included in every subscription.

These Terms apply to the Zene service. The Subscription Terms and Refund and Cancellation Policy apply to purchases; the Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy govern contributions and conduct; and the application licence applies to installed software. The Privacy Policy explains personal-information practices and is not blanket consent to optional tracking. Mandatory legal rights take precedence over inconsistent wording in any of these documents.

An account-creation or purchase screen must give access to the applicable terms before requesting agreement. A material change requiring consent cannot be accepted merely by silence or by making it difficult to leave the service. The revision date of this draft is not a record that an existing user has agreed to it.

2. Eligibility and account information

You must be at least thirteen to use Zene, and meet any higher minimum age or additional eligibility requirement applicable in your country. Zene is not offered to children under thirteen. If the law requires parental consent, verified parental authorisation must be obtained through a supported process before the relevant use; an ordinary sign-in or family subscription is not that process. Where a required process is unavailable, the affected user must not register or use the feature.

Provide accurate account information, use only accounts that belong to you or that you are authorised to administer, and do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your age. Keep access to your sign-in email and identity-provider account secure. Notify Zene if you believe your account has been compromised. Responsibility for unauthorised activity is determined by the circumstances and applicable law, rather than imposed on you regardless of fault.

3. Permission to use the service

Subject to these Terms, Zene grants a limited, non-exclusive permission to access the available service for personal, non-commercial use. You may install official applications on devices you own or control, subject to the relevant store rules. This permission does not transfer ownership of the software, catalogue, branding, or third-party material, and does not include resale or commercial rebroadcasting.

Availability depends on network access, compatible devices, upstream services, territorial rights, and ongoing support. A catalogue item may be corrected, restricted, or removed. Zene may modify a feature for security, legal, or technical reasons, but a change to a paid service remains subject to the purchase terms and mandatory consumer remedies.

4. Your contributions and permissions

You retain rights you hold in profile photographs, playlist names and covers, and other material you submit through enabled features. You must have the rights and permissions needed for that submission and its intended audience. Finding an image in search, crediting its creator, or possessing a personal streaming subscription does not by itself permit copying, uploading, or licensing it to others.

For the purpose of operating the features you choose, you grant Zene a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, format, transmit, and display your contribution to its selected or stated audience, and to use service providers for those operations. This licence is limited to providing, maintaining, securing, and moderating the service. It does not transfer ownership or grant an unrestricted right to sell your content or use it in unrelated advertising.

The operational licence ends when the contribution is removed from the service, except to the extent needed for lawful retention, resolving disputes, and the removal of residual copies from backup systems. Other people may have retained independently shared copies. Content removal and account deletion are described separately, and neither gives Zene rights that you did not possess.

5. Third-party material, automated collection, and caching

Zene brings together third-party information using a combination of service interfaces, public web sources, links, and automated retrieval. Some discovery and entertainment information is collected from publicly accessible pages and temporarily stored or refreshed in caches. The method of collection may differ between sources; an entry in a provider directory is not a representation that every integration is an official API or an approved partnership.

Automated accessibility, public availability, attribution, caching, and the absence of a paywall do not themselves establish permission to copy or redistribute material. Applicable copyright and database rights, access restrictions, privacy requirements, provider terms, and any separate licence continue to apply. These Terms do not assert a blanket fair-use exception and do not bind a third-party rights holder.

Zene may restrict, correct, or remove a source or cached item in response to a rights claim, contractual restriction, or legal requirement. Users must not bypass geographic, authentication, payment, or technical restrictions. A Premium purchase pays for the Zene features offered at checkout; it does not purchase ownership of music, lyrics, images, or a licence to exploit another provider’s catalogue.

Where YouTube services are used, the YouTube Terms of Service apply to those services. Provider documentation, developer conditions, and privacy notices address different subjects. The provider directory identifies those links separately and does not certify Zene’s compliance with them.

6. Conduct and enforcement

Do not use Zene to exploit children, threaten or harass people, distribute unlawful material, infringe intellectual-property rights, impersonate others, spread malicious software, or interfere with the service. Do not automate abusive traffic, evade access controls, harvest personal information, manipulate engagement or billing, or misuse account-recovery and reporting tools.

Zene may investigate suspected violations and take proportionate steps such as removing a contribution, restricting a feature, suspending an account, or preserving relevant records where lawful. Immediate restrictions may be necessary for serious safety concerns, fraud, or binding legal requirements. Where appropriate and legally permitted, a reason and an opportunity to request reconsideration should be provided. A report is an allegation, not proof of wrongdoing.

7. Subscriptions and advertisements

Free features may include advertisements. Paid features, price, billing period, renewal conditions, trial conversion, and cancellation terms are those disclosed in the purchase flow. A promotion must not be read as a promise that every external stream or provider will be advertisement-free.

Purchases supported by the Android and iOS applications use their respective store flows. The current Desktop application does not provide a native purchase or restore flow. Store billing, a Zene entitlement, family membership, and third-party content rights are distinct matters. Deleting the application or Zene account does not automatically cancel a store-managed subscription.

  • Refund and Cancellation

8. Ending access and deleting information

You may stop using Zene at any time. To remove account information, use the account-deletion controls or submit a request using the contact information below. A supported in-app request schedules deletion after a fifteen-day cancellation period. Scheduling is not completed erasure, and signing out or uninstalling is not an account-deletion request.

On termination, permission to use the affected service ends. Provisions that by their nature remain relevant, including outstanding payment obligations, rights in content, lawful record retention, and dispute handling, continue only to the extent appropriate and legally enforceable. Nothing in termination removes a statutory refund or data-protection right.

  • Account and Data Deletion

9. Service responsibility and liability

Zene does not promise uninterrupted access, error-free third-party information, or continuing availability of a particular catalogue item. To the extent permitted by applicable law, implied warranties may be excluded for free services. This qualification does not remove an obligation to provide paid services with the quality, conformity, care, or skill that the law requires.

Neither party is responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been foreseen when the relevant agreement was made, to the extent that exclusion is lawful. Zene does not exclude liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence where that exclusion is prohibited, or any other liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

These Terms do not impose an unlimited consumer indemnity, a universal monetary liability cap, or a waiver of statutory privacy rights. Any claim involving a contribution, rights infringement, or misuse must be assessed on its facts, the conduct of each party, and the remedies the applicable law permits.

10. Law, complaints, and disputes

Zene’s contact address is in Mumbai, India. Applicable Indian law governs these Terms to the extent a choice of law is permitted. If you are a consumer elsewhere, mandatory protections of your country of residence and any right to bring a claim before a competent local court or authority remain available.

Please describe a complaint and the outcome requested using the contact details below so that it can be considered. Informal contact is not a compulsory waiting period and does not prevent a timely claim, regulatory complaint, or urgent application. These Terms do not require private arbitration or waive participation in collective proceedings where such a waiver would restrict protected rights.

If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue only so far as they can operate lawfully without changing the agreement’s essential purpose. Failure to enforce a provision on one occasion does not surrender a right to enforce it later. No transfer of the service may reduce protections that cannot lawfully be reduced.

11. Revisions and contact

Material changes should be communicated through a suitable channel before taking effect where notice is required. The notice should identify the change, its effective date, and any choices or remedies available. Fresh consent must be obtained where the nature of the change or applicable law requires it.
